Unfortunately, there have been numerous tragedies across the globe this year, both nature-made and man-made. And I know I speak for most people when I wonder what can be done to help.

Two authors, Sharon Johnston and Em Shotwell, have done more than just wonder. They started a website called Literary LoveFest and host auctions to raise funds for people in need. They put the word out to the publishing industry and donations are pouring in.

Their first fundraiser is Literary Love for Louisiana to help the victims devastated by mass flooding. Clean up efforts are on-going, as are the basic needs for residents. Funds raised through this auction will go to Habitat for Humanity which is essential in helping families.

Now it is time to stop wondering how you can help. Go to Literary LoveFest, read the rules, and bid. At this time, there are thirty-five items. Choose one or choose many.

Those donating their time, expertise, and books have been extremely generous. For example, editor, author, and Pitch Wars mentor Kate Foster donated a full MS critique. And The Winged Pen’s own authors and Pitch Wars mentors Jessica Vitalis and Marty Mayberry offer twenty-page or first chapter critiques.

If you are not interested in critiques, how about one of three online author platform strategy sessions from fantasy and science fiction author E.J. Wenstrom. Or book bundles featuring speculative fiction or romance.

There is a long list of critiques and strategy sessions from incredible authors and editors. A dream list if you ask me. And definitely something for everyone.

But most importantly, this is all going to help the flood victims of Louisiana. So get your bids in. The auction closes at 11:59 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2016.
