The Winged Pen is 2 ¼ years old! We may not have served a cake with two lit candles when the big day came around, but we did make a wish. We wanted a new website. After publishing 2-4 posts a week every week for two years, we realized we had a lot of info in our archives that new readers never saw. Since I only write a fraction of the Winged Pen posts, perhaps you’ll forgive me for saying there’s some wisdom there that should be easier to access. In addition to categorizing our posts to make them easier to find, we also gave ourselves a facelift with bigger, bolder images.
Here’s the intro to our new digs:
Our most recent posts are displayed with large images right at the top of the page. To make it easier to find the older content you need, we have three menu areas now. In the main menu under our header, get back to our recent posts by clicking “Home.” If you’re a fan of the Master Your Craft series on writing craft (or if you just got feedback from a critique partner and need help sorting through it), you’ll want to check out the 45+ posts in this series. We’ve also added a page for the Four on 400 posts so you can look through critiques of other writers’ first pages and perhaps find some tips to apply to your own writing.
Under Interviews, we have thoughts and advice both from Authors and Literary Agents. Under Book Recommendations, we have something to make every reader want to curl up in a corner and get lost in a good book. Books are divided by category into Picture Book, Middle Grade, and Young Adult in the drop-down list. The book drop-down will also take you to our Windows and Mirrors series, which shines a spotlight on underrepresented authors, and to Love Letters, thanking the formative books of our childhood for the wisdom they gave us.
In the menu at the very top of the page, you can find Our Story about how this blog was formed, bios of the Contributors, a list of Books Written by Winged Pen Authors, answers to Frequently Asked Questions, and how to Contact Us. And in the menu at the bottom of the page, we have a shout-out to our subscribers (thank you!) and a cloud of links to posts by topic.
So stop reading this post and go check out the site! If you like what you see, we’d love a like on a post or a high-five on Twitter or Facebook with a link to what you found helpful. If you’ve got something writing-related on your mind that you’d like us to write about, feel free to send us an email or just mention it in the comments below. And as always, thanks for being part of our flock! The road to a career in publishing is a long and bumpy one, and we’re glad you’re sharing it with us.
All the best,
The Winged Pen
looks good! Easy to navigate.
Thanks, Carol!
